A tribute to Chris Shaw

Tributes were paid to outgoing chair Chris Shaw at the annual meeting of the Village Hall committee and a glass was raised to wish her well.

Andrea Guppy thanked her for her outstanding work with the Village Hall.

Chris has been a member of the committee for the past nine years and has done a terrific job chairing its meetings since 2010. The meeting was told that the hall’s finances were in good shape and that the building continued to play a leading role in the life of the village.

Thanks were given to Caroline Bashford for her continued efforts with the garden at the hall and to Keith Bashford for cutting the hall’s grass.

Chris is to be replaced by Nigel Kay, who with his wife Marilyn, has lived in Charminster for more than 10 years. Nigel is a former BBC journalist who now runs his own communications business.

Nigel has said he’s keen to ensure that the village hall, and the local organisations that use it, continue to thrive. Charminster Parish Council was thanked for its promise of a grant of £500 to village hall funds. The money will be used to buy new chairs for the hall.

Please feel free to contact Nigel Kay 01305 26401.
